There are two Guidance Counsellors in the school Ms Catherine Gannon & Ms. Ann Wickham .The Guidance Counsellors are an integral part of all student welfare service. All students have access to personal, educational and careers counselling throughout their time in the school.

Educational Guidance

·          Advice on subject choice & levels, Study skills, exam techniques, time management.
     
·         Psychometric testing.
      ·         Counselling for learning related problems.
     
·         Referrals for Psychological Assessments.

Career Guidance

 ·         Help students to plan for the future by enabling them to access careers information and identify their interests and abilities.
       ·         Advise on suitable employment, training, college courses.
       ·         Assist in decision making and planning skills.
       ·         Assist in developing jobsearch skills.

Personal Counselling

        ·         Provide help for students experiencing difficulties in their lives.
        ·         Individual counselling in a caring and confidential environment.
        ·         Help student develop coping skills or seek further help.       

The Guidance & Counseling service is delivered through classes, group consultations and individual appointments. The Guidance Counselors are available by appointment to discuss any aspect of your child’s educational or personal development.

*The Rainbows programme is offered each year to Junior Cert Students. Rainbows is a peer support programme to assist adolescents who are grieving a death, separation or other painful transition in their family. If you are interested in this group please contact Ms. Gannon or Ms Ryan.
